Victron Energy GX IO-Extender 150 – USB I/O expansion module

The Victron Energy GX IO-Extender 150 expands the input and output capabilities of compatible GX devices, including the Ekrano GX and Cerbo GX. It connects via USB, which also provides its power, making the additional inputs, outputs, PWM channels and relays available to the GX system.

The module is designed for monitoring, automation and control of external sensors, signal circuits and DC loads. It can be controlled from the GX device interface and Switch pane, as well as through Node-RED when used with GX devices running Venus OS Large.

Applications

The Victron Energy GX IO-Extender 150 is designed to expand GX systems in off-grid solar installations, marine electrical systems and industrial backup power solutions. It can be used to connect digital sensors and signal circuits, control PWM devices, switch small loads and implement automated routines through Node-RED.

The digital outputs are intended for signalling and must not be used to switch loads directly. The PWM outputs are suitable for applications such as LED dimming and motor speed control.

Connectivity and control

The GX IO-Extender 150 connects to an available USB port on a GX device. Once connected, the additional digital inputs and outputs, PWM channels and relays become available to the system for monitoring and control. The digital I/O groups are configured using DIP switches; changing the mode requires the device to be power-cycled.

Control is available through the GX device interface and its Switch pane. For advanced automation, the module can be used with Node-RED on GX devices running Venus OS Large.
