Victron Energy SmartSolar MPPT 250/70-Tr VE.Can – 250 V / 70 A solar charge controller is a high-performance MPPT solar charger for photovoltaic systems with 12 V, 24 V, 36 V or 48 V battery banks. Its ultra-fast Maximum Power Point Tracking technology extracts the maximum available energy from the PV array and converts it into an optimized charging profile for the battery.

The controller delivers up to 70 A of charging current, supports PV open-circuit voltages up to 250 V and reaches peak efficiency of up to 99%. VE.Can communication enables synchronized operation of multiple controllers, integration with GX devices and centralized monitoring. Built-in Bluetooth provides configuration and monitoring through the VictronConnect app.

Key benefits

  • MPPT solar charge controller for photovoltaic arrays with up to 250 V open-circuit voltage.
  • Maximum charging current of 70 A.
  • Nominal PV power: 1000 W at 12 V, 2000 W at 24 V, 3000 W at 36 V and 4000 W at 48 V.
  • Peak efficiency of up to 99% with low self-consumption.
  • Automatic detection of 12 V, 24 V and 48 V battery systems; 36 V is selected manually.
  • Adaptive multi-stage charging algorithm with eight preset profiles or a user-defined algorithm.
  • Adjustable charge voltages and settings for different battery chemistries, including lead-acid and lithium batteries.
  • Parallel synchronized operation via VE.Can with up to 25 units or via Bluetooth with up to 10 units.
  • Built-in input power limiting when the PV array is oversized.
  • Protection against PV reverse polarity, output short circuit and overheating.

Applications

Suitable for off-grid and hybrid solar systems, campervans and caravans, marine installations, professional vehicles, remote sites and stationary energy-storage systems. VE.Can connectivity makes it a practical choice for systems with multiple solar chargers, a GX communication device and remote VRM monitoring.
