Victron VE.Bus Smart dongle – Bluetooth interface

Victron Energy VE.Bus Smart dongle is a Bluetooth accessory for Victron Energy inverters and inverter/chargers equipped with a VE.Bus port. Using the VictronConnect app, you can monitor system operation wirelessly, view key AC and DC parameters, check device status and warnings, switch between Off, On and Charger-only modes, and adjust the AC input current limit.

The dongle also functions as a battery voltage and temperature sensor. This enables the inverter/charger to compensate for voltage drop in the battery cables and adjust charging voltage according to battery temperature. VE.Bus Smart dongle also adds Instant Readout to VE.Bus products, providing fast diagnostics directly from the VictronConnect device list.

VE.Bus Smart dongle is suitable for campervans, caravans, motorhomes, small yachts, professional vehicles, and off-grid or backup power systems where convenient local monitoring is required without a Color Control GX or Venus GX. It can be used with Multis, MultiPlusses, MultiPlus-II, MultiGrid, MultiGrid-II, Quattros and Phoenix Inverters with a VE.Bus port.

Connectivity and control

Connection to the inverter or inverter/charger is made through the VE.Bus RJ45 port using a straight RJ45 UTP cable. The cable is not included. Once connected, VictronConnect provides wireless monitoring and basic control. VE.Bus Smart dongle cannot be used to configure the inverter or inverter/charger, and it cannot update the firmware of the connected VE.Bus product.

When a GX device or CAN-bus smart battery is present, data from those sources may take priority over the dongle measurements. If a Digital Multi Control is connected, it takes priority for On, Off and Charger-only control and for adjustment of the input current limit.
